The uncrowded beach, the pounding surf and the expansive ocean are the intentional focal pointsview of Hotel Las Palmas from the beachside garden from every vantage point of the hotel.

Built on a slight elevation to enhance the views, Hotel Las Palmas is an impressive two story structure of smooth, ergonomically friendly walls, expansive wood beams, circular stairwells and towering palapa (thatched palm fronds) roofs. The craftsmanship of the huge circular ceiling was made entirely by hand. This is not your ordinary thatched roof.

This is, of course, a full service bar, which offers all patrons a wonderful vantage point to look out at the ocean while sipping on a cool one. Activities

The beauty of staying at Hotel Las Palmas is that you can be as active or as inactive as you choose. Nearby (5 miles) is a small mountain named Guamilule (wah-me-LOO-lay) where you can hike to the top (guide optional) and get a bird’s eye view of the entire Barra de Potosí bay. Or, you could ride your Schwinn cruiser bike that’s been provided by the hotel to visit the Barra de Potosí fishing village. There you’ll find seaside restaurants offering fresh seafood, hammocks and a protected cove for swimming. With 24 hours notice we can connect you with an English-speaking guide who takes guests on lagoon kayak tours for bird and wildlife watching. If you’re the adventurous type, you might even rent your own canoe for a little exploring!

Things to do within an hour’s drive include but are not limited to: renting a fishing charter for the day, sailing, snorkeling or sunset cruises, jungle tours in nearby Troncones, day trips to the nearby city of Petatlán (where there’s a gold market and famous church), shopping in Zihuatanejo (Lupita's clothing for women is one of our personal favorites) or visiting some of the other beaches in Ixtapa or Zihuatanejo. There’s horseback riding on the beach, right in front of the hotel; sunset rides are especially popular. A day trip to Playa Las Gatas for snorkeling is always a fun day. And for you golfers, there are two courses in Ixtapa to challenge your skills. Prefer to stay at the hotel and be pampered? We have manicurists, pedicurists and masseuses on call. With a 24 hour notice we can arrange whatever your needs call for. It’s your holiday and you’re here to relax and unwind. The choices are literally endless. We’re here to help you in whatever plans you want to make.
